The City of Richardson was founded in 1925. Emigrants from Tennessee and Kentucky first settled in the area in the 1840s. Growth occurred following the arrival of the Houston Texas Central and Interurban Railways. Its 2022 population was 125,544 making it the 30th largest city in Texas. Richardson is known for the Telecom Corridor.
