The City of Frisco was founded in 1904. It was settled by American pioneers who traveled in wagon trains along Shawnee Trail. The St. Louis-San Francisco Railway was being built through the area and the community grew along the railway around a train and water stop near present-day downtown. Its 2022 population was 225,565 making it the 14th largest city in Texas. Frisco is known for being “Sports City USA” and home to the Dallas Cowboys (NFL), FC Dallas Burn (MLS), Dallas Stars (NHL), Frisco Roughriders (AA Minor League affiliate of the Texas Rangers (MLB)), Texas Legends (NBA G League), and the Frisco Fighters (Arena Football).
