Allen, TX
The City of Allen was founded in 1953 and named for Ebenezer Allen. It was originally settled by European immigrants in the 1840s along the Houston and Texas Central Railroad. Its 2022 population was 110,741 making it the 4th largest city in Collin County and the 38th largest city in Texas. Major employers in Allen include the City of Allen, Allen Independent School District, Experian, Texas Health Resources Allen, Motorola Solutions, Quest Medical, Amphenol Fiber Solutions, and NetScout Systems. Allen is home to attractions including Pinstack, Twin Creeks and Watters Creek Golf Courses, the Edge at Allen Station Park, The Village Green, Allen Premium Outlets Mall, Topgolf, and the Credit Union of Texas Event Center. Allen has 70 miles of hike and bike trails, 60 parks, seven recreational facilities, a municipal golf course, a natatorium, and Texas' largest outdoor skate park. Students in Allen attend Allen ISD campuses (21,617 students), and also some areas are in Lovejoy ISD, McKinney ISD, and Plano ISD. Allen is also home to the Collin College Allen Technical Campus, and medical needs are served by Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen. Major traffic arteries through Allen include US 75, SH 121 (Sam Rayburn Tollway), SH 5, and FM 2478 (Custer Road).
