The Town of Prosper was founded in 1914. The first settlers arrived to farm and raise cotton in the 1840s. The town began to grow with the arrival of the St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad in 1902. Its 2022 population was 36,399. Prosper is home to Frontier Park, Pecan Grove Park, Town Lake Park, and Windsong Park. Students in Prosper attend Prosper ISD (19,138 students); some areas are in Celina ISD and Denton ISD. Medical needs are served by Cook’s Children’s Medical Center Prosper and Texas Health Resources Prosper. The 2020 crime rate is 75.1 incidents per 100,000 residents. 2022 property tax rates are Prosper City $0.510000 plus rates for appropriate County, Collin College (if applicable), and appropriate ISD. Major traffic arteries include the Dallas North Tollway, US 380, SH 289 Preston Road, FM 1385, FM 1461, and FM 2478.
